Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Speed Landscape Drawing and Painting

Saturday 12 October
Stonehaven - 10am - 2 Hours
Adelina Abasli
The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
You will have a chance to meet and greet like-minded people, choose your own subjects in the garden and be guided to complete the exercises, and artwork and have some takeaway homework with the learned technique. All levels and experiences are welcome.

Young fine artist and now instructor, Adelina, has been going to art classes since she was 3 and she hasn 2019t stopped since. Adelina has immigrated to the UK 5 years ago from Azerbaijan, where she was born. Adelina has always been curious about the different media 2019s and experimenting with them. Doing that she has developed her own style, yet she still takes inspiration from other artists.
She has also experimented with photography and turning her pictures into art on paper with many different textures and perspectives. Adelina is very high spirited and open minded to any suggestions or ideas. She is also very social and loves to communicate with people in all age groups .

Adelina mostly focuses on Still Life, but she is open to changing things around and building her skill on other areas such as landscapes, portraits, nature, animals and playing around with shadows and light.
Her strong suit is pencils as she thinks they are the best for details, but she loves other media 2019s such as oil paints, acrylics, watercolour, pastels , chalk and so much more! Adelina is looking forward to meeting you all and sharing all her knowledge and warms to make everyone feel welcome.

My mother in law came to visit us in South Africa from Scotland one year and loved the paintings I had done of our dogs. When we immigrated to Scotland last year, I immediately set about painting her Frenchie Emmi which was gifted to her on her birthday in November last year. 30x30 oils on canvas.

I found this image by Guillaume Meurice on Pexals and felt inspired to paint the photo. I've always had a fascination for wind turbines despite the controversy surrounding them. I find them both regal and alien at the same time. This is the largest painting I've ever done, at 90x140cm's oils on canvas.

Title or Location: On my easel. (Please note the photo of my painting was taken by me, but the original photo it was painted from was found on PIXABAY.
I came across the original photo taken by Alexa on Pixabay in 2021 and immediately fell in love with the contrast of blackwhite and bold colours. I knew I had to paint this unusual photo, which I did. We had an exhibition coming up at the Arts Alive Art School in South Africa where I attended classes and my painting was one of many on display. A friend bought my artwork at the exhibition and it now hangs in his home in South Africa where he lives.

In this painting I wanted to convey the intensity of the fox's stare - that something has caught his eye and he is standing perfectly still watching it! I am always intrigued with how light hits a subject - this is why I love using oil paints as you can get such a depth of colour (I layer up the colours) and then the last few brushstrokes are the highlights and that is when the magic happens!

This is Lucy, one of our favorite family dogs. She is the sweetest pooch and loves to ride in the car, windows opened. She is in her glory as her ears catch the wind and almost smiles. I tried to capture her wonderful nature in this watercolor painting. I used very heavy pigment to give detail to her fur. I so love the many styles watercolor allows you to create. It is one of my favorite paintings because, I Love Lucy:)
